कोरिया में university चुनते समय कई students ranking ही देखते हैं। लेकिन international students के लिए rankings जितने ही महत्वपूर्ण administrative criteria भी हैं। International Education Quality Assurance System, यानी IEQAS, ऐसा ही एक criterion है। 13 February 2026 को Ministry of Education और Ministry of Justice ने IEQAS-certified universities और international student recruitment/management status पर 2025 survey results announced किए।

Ministry of Education announcement के अनुसार South Korea में international students की संख्या 2020 में 153,000 से बढ़कर 2024 में 209,000 और 2025 में 253,000 हो गई। Students बढ़ने के साथ universities की recruitment और management capability अधिक महत्वपूर्ण हो जाती है। IEQAS यह assess करने का system है कि universities international students को ठीक से recruit और manage कर रही हैं या नहीं।

IEQAS क्या assess करता है

Ministry of Education बताता है कि यह system 2012 से universities की internationalization capability बढ़ाने और illegal residency जैसे adverse effects रोकने के लिए चल रहा है। Certified universities वे institutions हैं जो review pass कर चुके हैं, और certification March 2026 से February 2030 तक four years valid है। लेकिन annual monitoring में standards पूरे न हों तो certification revoked हो सकता है।

International student perspective से ये standards “यह university international students को कितनी विश्वसनीयता से manage करती है” देखने का minimum benchmark बनते हैं। Tuition, scholarships, majors और housing महत्वपूर्ण हैं, लेकिन visa और residency management unstable हो तो पूरा study abroad experience कठिन हो सकता है।

क्या certification मतलब university automatically अच्छी है?

इतना simple नहीं है। IEQAS university की international student management और internationalization capability assess करता है। यह research capability या हर major के employment outcomes guarantee करने वाला ranking system नहीं है। उदाहरण के लिए semiconductor master’s चाहने वाले student को electrical/electronic engineering, computer science और materials science departments के labs, research topics और English track separately verify करने होंगे। Korean language education या K-Beauty interest वाले students को curriculum, practical training और eligibility अलग से देखनी होगी।

फिर भी IEQAS university selection में baseline बनाने में उपयोगी है। खासकर जो students Korean university names पहली बार देख रहे हैं, जिन parents को university reliability verify करनी है, या जो visa और residency risks कम करना चाहते हैं, उनके लिए certification status पहले check करना reasonable है।

Accredited universities और visas

Ministry of Education announcement बताता है कि accredited universities को visa processing से संबंधित benefits मिलते हैं। इसके विपरीत standards पूरा न करने वाले non-accredited institutions को student visa issuance और review process में penalties मिल सकती हैं। यह international students के लिए direct concern है। Good major मिलने पर भी visa process complicated हो या residency management risk high हो तो preparation timeline लंबी हो सकती है।

Students को तीन बातें check करनी चाहिए

पहला, university accreditation status verify करें। Student को confirm करना चाहिए कि “accredited university” शब्द most recent accreditation results को reflect करता है। दूसरा, जिस major में apply करना चाहते हैं वह international students के लिए open है या नहीं देखें। तीसरा, program Korean में पढ़ाया जाता है या English में, यह confirm करें। पूरी university internationalization में strong हो सकती है, लेकिन कुछ departments international students accept नहीं कर सकते।

Indian students के लिए English-track master’s programs और scholarship opportunities महत्वपूर्ण हैं। Vietnamese students के लिए costs, Korean language proficiency और post-graduation career paths key considerations हैं। IEQAS दोनों markets के लिए trusted starting point हो सकता है, लेकिन final choice student के major और goals से align होनी चाहिए।
