Applications for Ajou University’s 2027 first-semester special admission for international undergraduate students run from 9:00 a.m. on September 28 to 5:00 p.m. on November 20. Applicants must complete not only the online application and application-fee payment but also postal or in-person document submission by the same deadline.
Completing only the online application and sending documents late may prevent the admissions process from proceeding normally. In particular, mailed documents are judged by the time they arrive at the university, not by the mailing date, so overseas applicants should allow ample delivery time.
What kind of university is Ajou University?
Ajou University began in 1973 through Korea-France cooperation in technical education, with programs in Electronic Engineering, Precision Mechanical Engineering, Fermentation Chemical Engineering, and Industrial Management. It later expanded beyond its engineering-centered origins and now operates the College of Engineering, College of Information Technology, and College of Software Convergence, as well as fields in the humanities and social sciences, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and international studies.
International undergraduate applicants should therefore look beyond the university name and application date and consider which college their intended major belongs to and whether to choose the Korean-track or English-track curriculum. Even within the same university, availability by major, language of instruction, and required proof of language proficiency may differ.
Application is completed in two steps
The first step is completing the online application and paying the application fee. The second is sending the supporting documents listed in the admissions guide to the International Admissions Team by mail or submitting them in person. Both steps must be completed by 5:00 p.m. on November 20.
Early application, offered from September 28 through October 15, is for students of Ajou University’s International Education Center. General applicants should not mistake the early-application notice for a separate admissions track that applies to all applicants.
Applicants may not apply to the Korean track and English track at the same time. The university states that an application will be automatically canceled if a duplicate application is found. Before choosing a department, applicants need to check the language of instruction and the language-proficiency requirements for the relevant track.
Results and the schedule after admission
Admission results are scheduled to be announced at 6:00 p.m. on December 31. Changes to the admissions schedule will be posted on the international admissions website, and necessary notices may also be sent to the personal email address entered on the application. Applicants should verify that the email address is correct before applying and check their inbox throughout the admissions period.
Tuition payment will take place between January and February 2027, with specific dates to be announced later. For applicable students, including those expected to graduate, the deadline for final educational-background documents and university-required bank-balance-related documents is January 22. Those applicants must send the originals by mail, and failure to submit required materials may result in cancellation of admission or enrollment.
The Standard Certificate of Admission is expected to be issued between January and February to admitted students who have paid tuition and completed submission of final documents. New-student orientation and course registration are scheduled for February. Visa procedures must be checked separately after admission using the latest guidance from the university and immigration authorities.
What to check when preparing documents
Eligibility is assessed based on nationality, completion of regular education in Korea or abroad, high-school graduation status, and the language requirements of the track applied to. Foreign nationality alone does not automatically satisfy the eligibility requirements. Applicants should check the admissions guide to determine whether apostille or consular authentication is required depending on the country that issued family-relation and educational-background documents.
When making a document checklist, it is advisable to organize the document name, whether an original is required, whether translation and notarization are required, whether authentication is required, and the university arrival date in one table. Rather than submitting the online application on the final day, applicants should first confirm that the required documents can be prepared; this can reduce duplicate-track applications and missing evidence.
