Online employment and visa course for international STEM graduate students closes at 1 p.m. on the 27th

A free online course for international STEM graduate students and researchers preparing for employment in Korea will be held on August 28. The application deadline is 1 p.m. on August 27.

The Foreign STEM Graduate Student Career Support Program, operated by the Korea Institute of Human Resources Development in Science and Technology (KIRD), covers employment visas, R&D talent recruitment by Korean companies, and the employment experiences of foreign researchers in one course. Hanyang University’s Office of International Affairs released program information and an application link on the 12th.

Applications open to graduate students through postdoctoral researchers

Eligible participants are international STEM master's and doctoral students, graduates, and postdoctoral researchers. The course is conducted in English and has no participation fee. It runs as a live online lecture from 1 p.m. to 5:20 p.m.

Applications are accepted through the online application form linked in the notice. Places are first come, first served, and applicants may be placed on a waitlist once capacity is reached.

From employment visas to R&D center recruitment

The first session covers how to find a job in Korea and apply for an employment visa. It then explains recruitment processes at Korean company R&D centers and the capabilities companies expect from international talent. The final 90 minutes consist of the experiences of foreign researchers employed in Korea and a question-and-answer session.

Participants are also provided with one-on-one online consultations for career planning, résumé, and interview preparation, as well as a 1-month access pass to a learning app for Korean expressions used in research and R&D workplaces.

To receive a certificate of completion, participants must attend at least 80% of the full program and complete the survey after it ends. The certificate can be downloaded from Alpha Campus 1 week after the program ends.
