Key Points

  • If you are enrolling in a regular Korean language course at Sungkyunkwan, Chung-Ang or Inje University to apply for a D-4 visa, look at both the fee for one course period and the period you must initially enroll for.
  • Applying the rates in the three universities’ official guidance checked on October 26, 2026 to two terms at Sungkyunkwan and Chung-Ang, or two quarters at Inje, gives a comparison total of KRW 2,850,000–3,640,000 for tuition and one application fee.

If you are enrolling in a regular Korean language course at Sungkyunkwan, Chung-Ang or Inje University to apply for a D-4 visa, look at both the fee for one course period and the period you must initially enroll for. Applying the rates in the three universities’ official guidance checked on October 26, 2026 to two terms at Sungkyunkwan and Chung-Ang, or two quarters at Inje, gives a comparison total of KRW 2,850,000–3,640,000 for tuition and one application fee. Chung-Ang requires D-4 applicants from Vietnam, Myanmar, Mongolia and Uzbekistan to enroll for four terms, raising the total to KRW 6,100,000–6,900,000 depending on the campus.

The comparison adds tuition and one application fee for a new applicant. Add separate costs such as textbooks, accommodation and insurance to estimate the funds you need before choosing a school. When your starting term changes, also apply any announced fee increase for that term. Sungkyunkwan has already announced a Suwon campus tuition change for 2027.

What do tuition and application fees add up to for the first two course periods?

The table calculates enrollment for two terms at Sungkyunkwan and Chung-Ang, and two quarters at Inje. It uses Sungkyunkwan’s 2026 fee table, Chung-Ang’s official 2026 brochure and tuition page, and Inje’s current tuition page.

University and campusEnrollment periodTuition calculationApplication fee, onceComparison total
Sungkyunkwan, Seoul2 termsKRW 1,780,000 × 2KRW 80,000KRW 3,640,000
Sungkyunkwan, Suwon2 termsKRW 1,500,000 × 2KRW 80,000KRW 3,080,000
Chung-Ang, Seoul2 terms, 20 weeksKRW 1,700,000 × 2KRW 100,000KRW 3,500,000
Chung-Ang, Da Vinci in Anseong2 terms, 20 weeksKRW 1,500,000 × 2KRW 100,000KRW 3,100,000
Inje, Gimhae2 quarters, 18 weeksKRW 1,400,000 × 2KRW 50,000KRW 2,850,000

A Chung-Ang term lasts 10 weeks, while an Inje quarter consists of 9 weeks and 180 hours. Two Chung-Ang terms therefore cover 20 weeks, and two Inje quarters cover 18 weeks. Read the actual teaching period alongside the number of course periods when comparing it with your study plans.

Payment timing also differs by university. Chung-Ang instructs accepted applicants to pay the application fee and tuition for their requested terms in one installment. Inje lists the sequence as an invoice after the interview, tuition payment and then issuance of the admission letter. The table combines tuition and the application fee for comparison. Follow the university’s invoice for the payment date and method for each item.

Chung-Ang requires four terms for applicants from four countries

Chung-Ang requires regular-course applicants seeking a D-4 visa to enroll for at least two terms, and applicants from Vietnam, Myanmar, Mongolia and Uzbekistan to enroll for four terms, or one year. If you are preparing for D-4 language study from one of those countries, calculate four terms instead of the two-term total in the table.

At the Seoul campus, four terms at KRW 1,700,000 each plus the KRW 100,000 application fee total KRW 6,900,000. At Da Vinci, four terms at KRW 1,500,000 each plus the KRW 100,000 application fee total KRW 6,100,000. The difference from the two-term total is KRW 3,400,000 in Seoul and KRW 3,000,000 at Da Vinci: tuition for the two additional terms enrolled for in advance.

This difference directly affects the funds needed at the first payment stage. Choose your intended campus, then apply the enrollment period required for your nationality. Chung-Ang states this condition in its official 2026 brochure and enrollment guidance.

Similar education costs can include different textbook expenses

Inje’s KRW 1,400,000 quarterly tuition includes textbooks. Sungkyunkwan includes field-trip costs in tuition and lists textbooks separately. Chung-Ang separates textbook, insurance and dormitory costs from tuition. Its 2026 brochure lists textbook costs of KRW 56,000–60,000 depending on the level.

When you first draw up a budget, place a ‘separate costs’ line below your tuition-and-application-fee total. List your school’s textbook costs, the deposit and accommodation charge for your chosen housing, insurance and overseas transfer fees individually. Mark costs already included so you do not add them twice. You can then update the total simply by filling in the relevant item when you choose housing or receive an invoice.

Suwon applicants for 2027 should use the increased tuition

Sungkyunkwan’s English admission page shows October 1, 2026 as its last modification date and announces that Suwon campus tuition rises to KRW 1,550,000 from the first term of 2027. At the increased rate, tuition alone for two terms is KRW 3,100,000. Check the applicable application fee alongside the guidance and invoice for your intended term. The KRW 3,080,000 Suwon figure in the table applies the 2026 rate to two terms for comparison; if your enrollment includes a 2027 term, update your budget against the changed amount on the invoice.

Even when you find a 2027 admission schedule, read the year attached to the fees on the same page. Where a page combines a 2026 fee table with a 2027 change notice, as Sungkyunkwan’s does, first apply the changes relevant to the term when you will actually begin.

Put your payment plan on one page before applying

Compare schools in this order. First, decide on the starting period and campus. Second, find the initial enrollment period and number of course periods the school requires for you. Third, multiply the fee for one course period by that number and add the application fee. Fourth, add separate costs such as textbooks, accommodation and insurance. Finally, record the invoice’s payment date, transfer method and procedure for confirming receipt.

For example, a Vietnamese applicant planning to apply to Chung-Ang’s Seoul campus for D-4 study would enter KRW 6,900,000 under tuition and the application fee, then add textbooks, insurance and accommodation separately. A person planning D-4 study at Inje would enter KRW 2,800,000 for two quarters’ tuition and KRW 50,000 for the application fee, noting that textbooks are included. This turns the listed fee per course period into a working estimate of the funds needed for enrollment.
