The Ministry of Justice announced this in a press release issued immediately upon its distribution on Sunday, April 26, 2026. The Task Force for the Protection of Immigrants’ Rights, under the Ministry of Justice’s Immigration and Foreigner Policy Headquarters, conducted an on-site investigation in collaboration with the Incheon Immigration and Foreigners’ Affairs Office and interviewed the victims as soon as the incident was reported.

Based on the on-site investigation, the Ministry of Justice’s Immigration and Foreigners Policy Headquarters promptly granted permission for the victimized foreign worker to change workplaces. Regarding the employer, the Ministry plans to consider administrative sanctions, such as restrictions on hiring and inviting foreign workers, taking into account the severity of the legal violation.

Additionally, the Ministry plans to discuss support measures for the victimized foreign worker through the Council for the Protection and Promotion of Foreigners’ Human Rights and Interests, a public-private joint deliberative body established at the Incheon Immigration and Foreigners’ Affairs Office. The Ministry of Justice’s Human Rights Bureau announced that it will provide integrated counseling through the One-Stop Solution Center for Crime Victims, psychological healing support through the Smile Center, economic support such as living expenses through the Crime Victim Support Center, and legal support through the Korea Legal Aid Corporation and Legal Home Doctor.

The Ministry of Justice plans to accept reports of human rights violations through the Foreigner Comprehensive Information Center (1345) and support the prompt redress of rights for affected foreign nationals. The One-Stop Solution Center for Crime Victims involves 14 agencies, including the police, the prosecution, the Crime Victim Support Center, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and provides comprehensive support in areas such as legal, economic, psychological, employment, welfare, and financial assistance. These measures were announced on Sunday, April 26.
