# “Overseas Korean Talent Builds Dreams at K-Bio Industry Sites”

• The Overseas Koreans Agency, Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon National University launch a K-bio camp for young overseas Korean talent
• Program links advanced life-science education and company visits with support for study and employment

A specialized education program has been created for the first time for young overseas Koreans interested in biotechnology.

The Overseas Koreans Agency, led by Commissioner Kim Gyung-hyup, selected 10 young overseas Koreans with an interest and aptitude in biotechnology together with Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon National University. The agencies launched the K-bio Camp for Young Overseas Korean Talent and held its opening ceremony on Tuesday, June 30.

• The camp is designed to help outstanding young overseas Koreans experience South Korea's biotechnology industry and research sites firsthand and connect that experience to study and employment in the country.
• It is also significant as the first overseas Korean youth talent-development project jointly run by the Overseas Koreans Agency, Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon National University in connection with Incheon's regional innovation-centered university support system, i-RISE.

Through July 10, participants will spend 9 nights and 10 days at Incheon National University's College of Life Sciences and Bioengineering, taking part in education and practical training in advanced biotechnology fields including biopharmaceuticals, anticancer drug materials and genetic diagnostics.

• They will also visit leading life-science companies in the Incheon area, including Dong-A ST, Cytiva Korea and Voronoi, to see research, development and production sites firsthand and discuss career and employment opportunities.
• In addition, participants will tour major Incheon attractions and join cultural programs to better understand their ancestral country and experience life in South Korea.

One participant at the opening ceremony said, “I had long wanted to study and pursue a career in Korea, but it was difficult to know what opportunities were actually available.” The participant added, “I joined because I want to experience Korea's biotechnology industry firsthand through this K-bio camp and develop a concrete career plan.”

Kang Mo-se, director of the Returning Overseas Koreans Settlement Support Division, said, “This K-bio camp will give outstanding young overseas Koreans an opportunity to experience one of Korea's future growth industries firsthand and design their own career paths.” He added, “We will continue expanding education and settlement-support programs so that outstanding talent from overseas can learn and grow in Korea.”
