Kyungsung University’s Winter 2026 Korean-Language Program: Overseas Applications Close September 18

Kyungsung University is recruiting students for its Winter 2026 Korean-language program in Busan. Online applications from overseas applicants close at 4 p.m. on September 18, 2026, while applicants already residing in Korea may apply through September 28. Classes run for 10 weeks, from December 14 to February 24, 2027.

Applicants who want to study Korean at a university campus in Busan and also check whether dormitory use is available can review the course schedule together with the dormitory information. Overseas applicants should apply before the deadline, allowing time for document authentication and visa issuance.

Kyungsung University is at 309 Suyeong-ro, Nam-gu, Busan. According to the university’s official transport guide, the main gate is accessible from Exit 4 or 6 of Kyungsung University–Pukyong National University Station on Busan Metro Line 2. International applicants can use this location information to plan commuting distance and their surrounding living area in Busan in advance.

The university reported 3,160 enrolled international students as of April 1, 2026, under higher-education statistics. The figure combines degree students, Korean-language trainees, and exchange students. Its 2026 Korean-language program guide states that the university operates eight colleges and 51 departments.

Kyungsung University’s Language Education Center has operated Korean-language education programs since 2003. In the Spring 2026 term, 348 students from 36 countries participated in its Korean-language courses, which include Korean-culture experience programs alongside regular classes.

Overseas applications close September 18; applicants residing in Korea have until September 28

Trainees are selected primarily through document screening; online video interviews are held only for applicants selected for enhanced review. Final admission is decided by considering document screening and, where applicable, the interview result. Additional recruitment may be held if there are few applicants or sufficient time for visa procedures, but applicants should not prepare on that assumption.

200 hours over 10 weeks, with morning and afternoon classes

Each term lasts 10 weeks, with 20 hours of study per week from Monday through Friday, for 200 hours in total. Morning classes run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and afternoon classes from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Classes are organized from Level 1 through Level 6, with a maximum of 19 students per class. A class may not open if fewer than five students enroll.

Students study reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar. Attendance of at least 70% and an average examination score of at least 70 are required for advancement and course completion. Morning and afternoon classes are offered, and applicants should confirm their preferred class time and class-placement criteria with the Language Education Center before applying.

Initial 10-week total listed at KRW 1,342,000; dormitory fees are separate

The initial 10-week total payment of KRW 1,342,000 combines tuition, textbook fees, and insurance for international students; the application fee and dormitory fee are separate. The guide waives the application fee for official recruitment partner institutions, returning registrants, and currently enrolled Kyungsung University students. The KRW 70,000 insurance fee is for six months of coverage and is paid every six months separately from registration. Those subject to National Health Insurance may incur an additional cost. Textbook and dormitory fees may change according to university circumstances, so applicants should recheck the invoice and dormitory guidance received after admission.

The on-campus Nuri Residence Hall offers two-person and three-person rooms. Rooms include beds, desks, refrigerators, bathrooms, and Wi-Fi, and shared facilities include a laundry room and communal kitchen. Use of the communal kitchen is first-come, first-served and unavailable once capacity is reached.

High-school graduation or equivalent, plus TOPIK Level 1 or equivalent Korean proficiency

Basic eligibility requires high-school graduation or an equivalent academic qualification and TOPIK Level 1 or above, or equivalent Korean proficiency. Applicants residing in Korea may apply regardless of their current visa type, but they must meet both the academic-qualification and Korean-proficiency requirements.

Common documents include an online application, personal statement and study plan, passport and, where applicable, an alien registration card, final academic credential, proof of financial ability, a family-relationship certificate or birth certificate where applicable, TOPIK score certificate where applicable, two passport photos, and a JPG identification-photo file. Academic documents not in Korean or English require both authentication of the original and notarized translation; depending on the country, an apostille, consular confirmation, or another academic-authentication method applies.

Proof of financial ability is generally a bank-balance certificate equivalent to KRW 8,000,000 in the applicant’s or a parent’s name. The guide exempts applicants who are nationals of OECD member countries and applicants residing in Korea from submitting a bank-balance certificate. Applicants who must submit it upload a scan with their online application and submit the original again when paying tuition after admission. The certificate must be issued within 30 days before the application date and remain valid through admission; when submitting the original, applicants also provide transaction records for the most recent six months as of the tuition-payment deadline. Some countries, including Vietnam and Uzbekistan, have additional conditions, so applicants should check the original provisions applicable to their nationality and status of stay.

From online application to entry into Korea

1. Complete the application, personal statement, and study plan and upload scanned documents through the Kyungsung University international admissions application system.
2. Applicants required to pay an application fee pay it according to university instructions and undergo document screening. Applicants notified that they are subject to enhanced review also complete an online video interview.
3. After receiving admission notice, submit original documents and tuition by the specified deadline.
4. Apply for a visa using the standard admission certificate or visa-issuance documents issued by the university.
5. Check the visa result, entry date, dormitory move-in date, and class start date together.

Kyungsung University provides its 2026 admissions guide in Korean and English. As checked on August 28, 2026, the Vietnamese-guide link on the official site led to a 2025 file. Winter 2026 applicants should not use that file as the current authoritative version; instead, they should rely on the 2026 Korean or English guide or direct confirmation from the Language Education Center.

Final checks before applying

1. Confirm your own deadline by distinguishing between overseas applicants and applicants residing in Korea.
2. First calculate the time needed for apostille or consular confirmation and notarized translation of academic documents.
3. Budget not only KRW 1,200,000 in tuition but also the initial total payment, application fee, dormitory fee, and health insurance separately.
4. Reconfirm morning or afternoon classes, dormitory placement, and textbook fees through the final notice after admission.
5. Overseas applicants who need a visa should not wait until just before September 18.
