First Indonesian Group Tourists Arrive Under Visa-Free Entry Program

- On Monday, June 22, 2026, the Ministry of Justice, led by Minister Jung Sung-ho, welcomed the first arrivals under the Visa-Free Entry Program for Indonesian Group Tourists at Incheon International Airport.

The tourists were the first to enter Korea using the visa-free program for Indonesian group tourists. They began the first part of their trip to Korea with a warm welcome from officials of the Ministry of Justice and the Incheon Airport Immigration Office.

Mrs. Radjah, one of the group tourists, said, “This is my 3rd visit to Korea, and this time it was very convenient to visit without going through a separate visa-issuance process thanks to the visa-free program. I plan to tour Seoul and Nami Island, and this time I definitely want to try wearing hanbok.” She added, “I arrived at Incheon Airport early in the morning and was moved that so many people welcomed us. When I return to Indonesia, I will tell many people to visit Korea using the visa-free program.”

- This first arrival is especially meaningful because it goes beyond the entry of tourists: it is expected to make visits to Korea more convenient for Indonesian tourists and serve as an opportunity to expand tourism and economic exchanges and strengthen friendly relations between the two countries.

It is also expected to help revitalize Korea's tourism industry and bring new energy to local economies and livelihoods.

• Justice Minister Jung said, “I sincerely welcome the first Indonesian group tourists arriving under the visa-free program. I hope this program will contribute to expanding exchanges between the people of the two countries and revitalizing tourism to Korea.” He added, “The government will expand immigration-screening personnel and continue improving related systems to create a more convenient and faster immigration-screening environment.”
• Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism CHAE Hwi-young said the visa-free program for Indonesian group tourists was “a gesture of Korea's hospitality welcoming Indonesian people to visit, beyond simply providing entry convenience.” He added that the ministry would actively cooperate with the Ministry of Justice, starting with these first arrivals, to expand tourism to Korea and enhance Korea's openness to the international community.
• Foreign Minister Cho Hyun said, “The implementation of the visa-free program for Indonesian group tourists lowers the threshold for people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and aligns with President Lee Jae Myung's ‘ASEAN-Korea CSP (Contributor, Springboard, Partner) Vision.’” He added, “Together with the recent elevation of Korea-Indonesia relations to a Special Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on April 1, 2026, I hope this measure will serve as an opportunity to further solidify the foundation for friendly cooperation between the two countries.”
