Seoul National University to Announce 2027 International Undergraduate Admission Results on November 20

Applications have closed for Seoul National University's Spring 2027 Global Talent Special Admissions for first-year undergraduate applicants. Applicants should now check the next steps, focusing on whether they have been selected for a Track II video interview, the preliminary admission announcement in October, and the final admission announcement on November 20.

This admissions process is divided into Track I for applicants whose parents are both foreign nationals and Track II for applicants who completed their entire curriculum overseas. The Track II video interview does not apply to every applicant; it is conducted only for applicants to colleges or admissions units designated by Seoul National University and only when the document review indicates that an interview is necessary.

Applications are closed; the remaining steps are interviews and admission announcements

Online applications were accepted from July 6 through July 9, and an application was complete only after the application fee was paid. After completing the application, applicants could not change their admissions track or admissions unit or cancel the application.

The remaining schedule is as follows. All times are in Korea Standard Time.

Preliminarily admitted applicants must submit the originals of the documents they scanned and uploaded with their applications. Preliminary admission may be revoked if an original is unavailable or the documents are incomplete. Because the university notes that the schedule may change due to circumstances inside or outside the university, applicants should check both individual notices and Global Admissions Notices.

Track I and Track II have different eligibility requirements

Track I applicants must meet both the academic and nationality requirements by February 28, 2027. Eligible applicants must have graduated from high school or have a recognized equivalent or higher level of education, and the applicant and both parents must all hold foreign nationality.

Both the applicant and the applicant's parents must have acquired foreign nationality before the applicant began an educational curriculum equivalent to the Korean high school curriculum. If they previously held Korean nationality, the applicant and both parents must have renounced or lost Korean nationality before the application deadline of July 9, 2026. They must also submit documents proving the renunciation or loss of Korean nationality and documents showing when foreign nationality was acquired.

Track II is a separate admissions route for applicants who completed their entire curriculum overseas. Although both tracks are grouped under 'international undergraduate admissions,' the required evidence differs depending on nationality and academic history. Applicants should first compare the eligibility and required-document tables in the admissions guidelines, then determine the correct track.

Track II video interviews are held only for applicants to designated colleges after document review

Track II video interviews may be conducted only for applicants to the Undergraduate College, College of Humanities, College of Social Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, College of Nursing, College of Engineering, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Education (excluding the Department of Physical Education), College of Human Ecology, College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Medicine, and Division of Advanced Convergence Studies. The guidelines define this scope but state that an interview is conducted only when deemed necessary after reviewing the submitted documents.

The list of video interview candidates will be announced at 5:00 p.m. on September 11, and the interviews will be held on September 18. Applicants can check whether they have been selected in Global Admissions Notices on the Seoul National University Office of Admissions website. Each college or admissions unit will separately announce details such as the interview time, and the College of Medicine and College of Veterinary Medicine may use written prompts.

Language evidence considers the language of instruction, not only test scores

Seoul National University requires evidence of proficiency in Korean or English. Accepted evidence includes an official language test score, a standardized academic test result showing a score for the relevant language, or official documents or school profile materials proving that the applicant's entire high school curriculum was taught in Korean or English.

For official language test scores, the Korean-language requirement is TOPIK or TOPIK IBT Level 3 or higher, or completion of Level 4 or higher at a language education institute or language center of a university in Korea. For English, TOEFL iBT 80 or higher is required; tests taken on or after January 21, 2026 are assessed under the new score scale and require 4.0 or higher. The minimum scores are 6.0 for IELTS Academic and 269 for TEPS.

The official language test must have been taken on or after July 9, 2024, and the score or level must have been finalized by the application deadline. This requirement appears in the language-proficiency evidence tables for both Track I and Track II.

Applicants who submit official scores may need to provide an original score report or arrange official score reporting after preliminary admission. If a score's validity period is close to expiring, applicants should check in advance how to retain the original score report and arrange its submission or delivery.

After preliminary admission, originals matching the uploaded copies must be mailed

Preliminarily admitted applicants can check their results after 5:00 p.m. on October 16 by entering their date of birth and applicant number in Global Admissions Notices on the Seoul National University Office of Admissions website. The original-document submission period runs from that time until 5:00 p.m. on November 3.

Applicants must mail the originals of the documents they scanned and uploaded to the online application site. Document review is central, and admissions competition figures are not disclosed

Seoul National University states that it does not set a separate admissions quota and selects students outside the regular enrollment quota. It does not disclose applicant numbers or admissions competition figures. Rather than relying on external estimates of admissions competition, applicants can prepare more directly by checking how their academic ability, aptitude for the chosen admissions unit, language proficiency, and academic and extracurricular activities are presented and connected across their application materials.

Evaluation is based on the documents applicants scanned and uploaded to the online application site. Because original documents must be submitted after preliminary admission, applicants should ensure there are no discrepancies among the uploaded files, the originals, notarized translations, and documents bearing an Apostille or consular authentication.

Tuition notices and admitted-student registration details will be provided after the final announcement

Final admission results can be checked in Global Admissions Notices after 5:00 p.m. on November 20. The registration period for admitted students is listed as December 2026 through February 2027. Specific registration information, including how to print the tuition bill, will be provided in the 'Instructions for Admitted Students' issued with the final results.

The tuition table in the appendix to the admissions guidelines is based on the 2026 academic year and may change. The amount payable for the 2027 academic year must be confirmed in the admitted-student instructions and the tuition bill.
