Subheading 79.1% of Enrollment at Seoyoung University’s Gwangju Campus and Chosun Institute of Technology… Check Program Offerings and Practical Training Conditions for Health, Engineering, and Service Majors

There are four junior colleges in Gwangju confirmed to be recruiting international students: Gwangju Health College, Donggang College, Seoyoung University’s Gwangju Campus, and Chosun Institute of Technology. The total number of international students announced for 2025 is 583, and the average annual undergraduate tuition for the 2026 academic year ranges from 5,450,500 won to 5,852,800 won. The median is 5,724,350 won.

Although the tuition range is relatively narrow at approximately 400,000 won, the number of international students, academic programs, practical training opportunities, and admission requirements vary. Seoyoung University’s Gwangju Campus and Chosun University of Science and Technology together account for 461 international students, representing 79.1% of the total for all four institutions.

Comprehensive Comparison of the Four Institutions

University2025 International Students2026 Average Annual Undergraduate Tuition2025 Dormitory Occupancy Rate
Gwangju University of Health Sciences35,450,500 won14.1%
Donggang University1195,679,400 won16.2%
Seoyoung University, Gwangju Campus2495,852,800 won10.9%
Chosun University of Science and Technology2125,769,300 won8.8%

The average tuition is the annual average for all undergraduate programs across the entire university or campus. For health, engineering, and arts and physical education programs, tuition, practicum fees, and material costs may vary by department. Since the dormitory occupancy rate does not reflect the allocation rate for international students, students should check the dormitory announcements for room types, meal costs, vacation usage policies, and selection criteria.

Seoyoung University and Chosun University of Science and Technology Have 79.1% International Students

Seo-Young University’s Gwangju Campus will have 249 international students in 2025, the highest number among the four institutions. The International Education Center has posted the schedule for the special admissions process for international students for the September 2026 semester, along with general admission guidelines for international students. Since Seo-Young University operates two campuses—in Gwangju and Paju—applicants must verify whether the program they are applying to and the location of classes are at the Gwangju Campus.

Chosun University of Science and Technology has 212 international students. The International Exchange Center provides separate services for international undergraduate students, Korean language programs, and dormitory inquiries, and has also posted guidelines for the start of classes and entry into the country for international freshmen for the second semester of the 2026 academic year. Although the center handles everything from admission to class schedules and residency arrangements, the actual available majors and language requirements are subject to the next admissions guidelines.

Gwangju University of Health Sciences Requires Korean Proficiency; Donggwang University: Check the Next Admissions Guidelines

Gwangju University of Health Sciences’ 2026 academic year admissions guidelines specify a TOPIK Level 3 or higher for the special admissions track for international students outside the regular quota and outline the document screening process. For health-related majors, Korean language requirements for classes and clinical internships, as well as national exam and licensing qualifications, may vary by department, separate from the admission process. Admission through the international student admissions process does not guarantee the acquisition of a domestic license or employment.

Donggwang University’s 2025 international student enrollment is 119, and among the four institutions, it has the highest dormitory occupancy rate at 16.2%. Although we verified the International Exchange Center linked on the university’s official website, we were unable to independently confirm the next admission guidelines for international degree programs on the homepage as of August 22. The current recruitment cycle remains unconfirmed. Applicants must contact the International Exchange Center directly to verify the departments accepting applications, language of instruction, required documents, and dormitory assignments.

Vocational Colleges Prioritize Practical Training Conditions Over Department Names

It is difficult to compare associate degree programs based solely on the school name. For health-related fields, check the practical training institutions, Korean language requirements, and licensing conditions; for engineering fields, check the equipment and on-site training opportunities; and for service, beauty, and culinary fields, check the practical training fees and certification programs. Even departments with the same name may have different program durations and curricula.

It is more efficient to review three documents together before applying. First, the admissions guidelines for international students. Check the actual departments accepting applications, as well as the Korean language, document, and interview requirements. Second, the department’s curriculum. Examine the proportion of practical training, certification programs, and pathways for transfer to four-year universities. Third, the dormitory announcement. Verify semester fees, meals, availability during school breaks, and whether international students are allocated dorm rooms.

Data and Methods

The scope of universities includes the four Gwangju junior colleges listed in the official GEA guide for international student recruitment. Data on international student enrollment and dormitory occupancy rates are from 2025, while data on average annual undergraduate tuition is from 2026. Official information regarding international student admissions and applications was verified on each university’s website on August 22, 2026. No estimates were made for future admission cycles for which information was unavailable.
