Spring 2027 international undergraduate admissions begin: Korea University accepting applications, SKKU opens Aug. 12

Spring 2027 international undergraduate admissions have begun. Korea University has been accepting applications since Aug. 3, Sungkyunkwan University's first round opens Aug. 12, and Yonsei University opens Sept. 1. Seoul National University closed its application period earlier than the other universities, on July 9.

Online application and original-document deadlines differ by university. At some institutions, an application is complete only after mailed documents arrive, so applicants overseas need to calculate their mailing schedule before the online deadline. All times below are Korea Standard Time.

Korea University closes Aug. 31; Sungkyunkwan University closes Aug. 21

Korea University allows seven additional days after the online deadline for original documents. The university advises applicants to use trackable registered mail or international express mail. An online application is complete only after the application fee is paid and online document uploads are finished.

Sungkyunkwan University runs two rounds. Applicants who miss Round 1 can apply in Round 2 from Nov. 4 at 10:00 to Nov. 13 at 17:00, and documents must arrive at the university by Nov. 27 at 17:00. Round 2 results will be announced Jan. 8, 2027.

Yonsei University accepts all applicants' original documents by mail until Sept. 30, 13 days after the online deadline. Applicants to pre-medicine, pre-dentistry and pharmacy must also attend an in-person interview at the Sinchon campus on Oct. 31.

Seoul National University closed applications in July

Applications for Seoul National University's undergraduate International Admissions program ran from July 6 through July 9. Recommendations were due July 10, and portfolios for applicants to the College of Fine Arts and College of Music had the same deadline. Preliminary admission results will be announced after 17:00 on Oct. 16, and final results after 17:00 on Nov. 20.

Spring 2027 admissions do not open in the same month at every university. Even applicants preparing for several universities in August and September should separately record when each university posts its admissions guide for the next application cycle.

Prepare original documents before the online application

All three universities treat the online application and mailed documents as separate steps. Apostilles or consular authentication for graduation and academic transcripts can take time, and some documents require translation and notarization. Applicants must meet each university's arrival or mailing rule rather than simply sending documents on the deadline.

Eligibility and language requirements also vary by university. Even within international admissions, requirements differ for the nationality of applicants and their parents, domestic or overseas education, acceptance of TOPIK or English test scores, and additional documents by major. After using the calendar to narrow the options, applicants must check their own eligibility and document list in each university's official Spring 2027 admissions guide.
