Applications are completed online with scanned document uploads
Applicants can enter the online application screen through Jeonbuk National University’s official admissions application page. At the first step, enter the English name exactly as shown on the passport, an email address that is actually checked, and a 4-digit password.
Applicants then complete the online application and upload scans of the required documents. D-4 applicants should prepare the online scans while also preparing the graduation certificate, transcript, and education-authentication documents to the required original-document standard. Document-screening results are sent individually, and applicants pay tuition by the deadline stated in the notice or invoice after admission is approved.
Applicants who need a visa proceed with the visa and entry process after receiving the certificate of admission issued by the university once tuition payment has been confirmed. Orientation and a placement test are held before class placement, and students new to Korean start at Level 1.
Eligible applicants are foreign nationals and overseas Koreans who have graduated from high school, expect to graduate, or hold an equivalent or higher level of education.
D-4 applicants must enroll for at least 2 semesters and prepare documents first
Applicants who need a D-4 visa for Korean language study must enroll for at least 2 semesters. With 2026 tuition at KRW 1,300,000 per term, tuition for 2 semesters is KRW 2,600,000, excluding textbooks.
D-4 applicants prepare the following documents.
- 3.5cm × 4.5cm color photo
- Copy of passport
- Original graduation certificate for the highest level of education completed
- Original transcript for the highest level of education completed
- Original education-authentication document through the applicable apostille, consular confirmation, or Chinese education-authentication route
- Bank balance certificate showing at least KRW 8,000,000 in the applicant’s or a parent’s name
- Family-relationship document showing the entire family
The bank balance certificate must be issued within 30 days of the application date. Chinese applicants must submit a kinship certificate issued by the competent public-security authority or a notary office for family-relationship documentation; a household register alone is not accepted.
Documents issued in a language other than Korean or English must be accompanied by a Korean or English translation or notarized copy. If only a translation is submitted, the university’s translator-confirmation form must also be used. If the university requests additional evidence during document screening, the applicant must supplement the file.
Applicants who do not need D-4 follow a separate document list
Applicants already staying in Korea or studying under another suitable status of stay should follow a document list different from the one for D-4 applicants.
Applicants residing in Korea prepare copies of the front and back of their residence card and proof of insurance. They then submit 1 document suited to their situation: a certificate of employment, a recent school transcript, or a family-relationship certificate.
A letter of guarantee may be required depending on the circumstances. Students transferring from another university Korean program prepare the previous program’s completion certificate and transcript, while current Jeonbuk National University undergraduate or graduate students prepare a certificate of enrollment and transcript.
Pay according to the invoice after admission approval and receive visa documents
New students pay tuition after admission approval. Check the virtual account and payment deadline on the invoice sent individually by the university and pay the tuition by that deadline.
Applicants who need a visa move to the visa-application stage after tuition payment is confirmed and the university issues the certificate of admission.
Tuition refunds depend on how far the classes have progressed.
| When the refund is requested | Refund rule |
|---|---|
| Before classes begin | Full tuition refund |
| After classes begin but before 1/3 of total class hours has elapsed | 66% of tuition |
| After 1/3 but before 1/2 of total class hours has elapsed | 50% of tuition |
| After 1/2 of total class hours has elapsed | No refund |
To request a refund, submit the refund application and a copy of the bank account details for receiving the refund to the Korean Language Center office.
The Jeonju main campus operates a 6-level Korean program
Classes are held at Jeonbuk National University’s main campus, 567 Baekje-daero, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, Jeonbuk State. Jeonju is a central city in Jeonbuk State in southwestern South Korea, and the university’s official location guide highlights the hanok village, food culture, and festivals as local features.
The Korean program runs from Level 1 through Level 6 and covers listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar. Classes currently have 15~20 students. To complete a level, students need an average score of at least 70 and attendance of at least 80%, meaning at least 160 of 200 hours.
Outside regular classes, the program also lists cultural experiences, language-partner activities, and counseling programs.
Apply for the dormitory when applying for the program if housing is needed
Students registering for the intensive Korean program may apply for an on-campus dormitory during the program application process. The current English-language guide lists the new BTL dormitory Chambit Hall at about KRW 1,000,000 per term, including utilities.
Rooms house 2 people in 1 room and include an in-room bathroom, basic furniture, internet, and shared facilities. The English dormitory guide also describes a weekday meal-card service. The university provides dormitory application timing and detailed schedules by email.
